Side-Sash-Lock-Friiction-Banjo-Brass-Nickel-Laquered-Brushed-Bronze-Window-Hardware_Vintporium-09Side Sash Locks, otherwise known as Friction Locks or Banjo Side Sash Locks, are simple locks that, once secured to the window sash, allow you to flip a lever, activating a stop plate, which applies pressure to the window rail, locking the sash in place. STEP I. Determine which side of the sash window the Side Sash Lock will be installed on and at what location. We prefer the upper corner so that the lock is installed with one screw anchored into the top rail and one screw anchored into the window stile.

Step III. Drill small pilot holes. The flat screws are solid brass, so using the correct-sized screwdriver ensures the screws won't be marred. Tighten screws.

STEP IV: Test the sash window by opening and closing it, ensuring the locks are engaged and secure at multiple points along the rail. Congratulations! You have successfully installed your side sash lock. Now, you can enjoy the added security and peace of mind that comes with knowing your windows are properly secured.
