Vintage Art Deco Ceiling Light 1930s Peach Pressed Glass Semi-Flush Porcelain

The Ceiling Light That Turns a Room Into a Memory

There is a kind of warmth that only vintage glass can make — and this 1930s Art Deco ceiling light has it in full measure. Imagine switching it on in a quiet hallway or a bedroom at the end of the day: the peach pressed glass blooms amber, the scalloped lobes cast soft curves across the ceiling, and the room stops feeling like a room and starts feeling like somewhere worth being. This is what lighting looked like when it was still considered worthy of artistry. The wide bowl shade is genuine Depression-era pressed glass in a muted blush peach, its surface covered in fine vertical ribbing and finished with a deeply molded floral medallion at the center — sunflowers and leaves pressed into the glass itself, not painted on, not applied after the fact. The scalloped rim fans out in broad lobes that sweep wide before curling downward at the edge — the shape of a flower caught mid-bloom, pressed in glass nearly a century ago. Above it sits the porcelain canopy: a shapely, fluted piece in ivory white glaze, hand-painted with a small daisy in ochre and blue, trailing vine in green and umber — the kind of hand-applied detail no machine reproduces and no reproduction bothers to attempt. Together they are exactly what a 1930s bungalow, Tudor Revival, Colonial Revival, or vintage-minded interior deserves: a period ceiling light fixture with genuine age, genuine character, and the warm amber glow that modern lighting simply cannot manufacture.

MEASUREMENTS The shade measures 10 inches wide. The overall fixture height is 9 inches.

ELECTRICAL This fixture is rated for dry locations. It uses one standard medium-base (E26) bulb and is compatible with incandescent, LED, or CFL bulbs. Maximum wattage is 60 watts. Bulb not included.

CONDITION This is a restored vintage fixture and shows honest age appropriate to its era. The peach glass shade has small chips, flea bites, and edge wear; there is a small nick and an approximately 1-inch non-structural fracture along the glass edge. These do not affect normal use but are visible on close inspection. The porcelain canopy shows minor chips, small marks, pinholes, and light wear to the glazed and painted finish. The fixture has been cleaned and detailed and is fully ready to install. It includes a new porcelain socket, new wiring and wire sheathing, a new mounting bracket, nickel thumb nuts, and new beaded chain supports.
