The Pair of Window Sash Spring Bolts That Lets an Old House Breathe Again.
Window sash spring bolts are how generations of homeowners kept a wood sash propped open and secured for a breeze, and adding a pair during a restoration is one of the simplest ways to make period windows useful every day again. Set one through each side stile, pull the knob to retract the spring-loaded bolt, raise the sash, and release the bolt into a receiving hole in the jamb. Drill holes at several heights to choose your ventilation opening, or simply hold the window closed. They serve as a ventilation lock or window stop on wood double-hung and single-hung windows, and work just as well on storm windows, removable, stationary, and hinged screens, and outswing casements, inside or out. The turned ball finial knob suits Victorian, Edwardian, Colonial Revival, Craftsman, and Arts and Crafts houses, and five finishes let you match your existing sash locks and lifts. Polished nickel, brushed nickel, antique brass, and oil rubbed bronze are applied over the brass, with the antique brass hand-rubbed for a timeworn look, while the polished unlacquered brass carries no lacquer and will develop a natural patina, so you can polish it bright or let it age.
