Vintage 1950s Jack-in-the-Box Alphabet Glass Nursery Ceiling Light

$ 329.99

Vintage 1950s Jack-in-the-Box Nursery Semi-Flush Mount — A Postwar Nursery Icon

Picture the warm glow spilling across a child's room at bedtime, the frosted square glass lit from within, jack-in-the-box figures and alphabet blocks glowing softly overhead in a lively, playful scene. This vintage nursery semi-flush mount is the kind of piece that turns a nursery or playroom into somewhere a child will remember. Dating from the 1950s to 1960s, the glass shade pairs a gently curved square frosted design with a bold orange, gold, cream, and white illustrated pattern, its four corners sweeping upward for a sculptural look from below. It mounts to a dark bronze-toned ceiling canopy and is secured with a classic center button finial, a hallmark of mid-century semi-flush mount design. Pieces like this from the postwar era of illustrated children's lighting, wallpaper, and textiles are increasingly hard to find intact, making this a genuine rarity for anyone furnishing a period-correct nursery or building a collection of vintage lighting with real character.

Find Your Part

Search our catalog by part, fitter size, or fixture type — try “2 1/4 shade”, “mogul socket”, or “sash lock”.

Need help choosing or fixing a part? Our Salvage Knowledge Library draws on Vintporium’s work since 2008 to help you identify what you have, pick the right part, or plan your own repair.

Can't Find the Part?

Looking for a matching sconce, a replacement shade, or an odd-sized fitter? Send us a photo and measurements. A large portion of our inventory is uncataloged. Many of the doors, windows, fireplace surrounds, bath fixtures, and architectural pieces in the yard never make it to the website. If you don't see it online, that doesn't mean we don't have it.

The Vintporium Heritage Standard

The Heritage Standard

Restored by hand, one at a time. Old wire out. New wire rated for present use, sound sockets, and grounding where the fixture allows. The body, glass, finish, and the marks it earned stay. Every fixture is tested on the bench before it leaves the shop.

About the Founder

Joe Golda has run Vintporium from his workshop in San José since 2008. He sources the pieces, pulls the old wiring, rewires them, finishes them by hand, and packs them himself. One person, one bench, one standard. Every fixture is tested — each socket, each switch — before it ships. What's original is called original. What's new is called new. We call this commitment to candor and craft our Heritage Standard.
