Art Deco Sunrise Pendant Hand-Painted Opal Glass Ceiling Light

$ 349.99

Art Deco Scalloped Opal Glass Pendant Light 1930s Hand-Painted Shade Antique Brass

The hand-painted opal glass pendant shade that restorers spend years trying to find — complete, intact, and ready to hang.

The hand-painted opal glass pendant shade is the kind of piece that stops a restoration in its tracks until you find exactly the right one. The low dome form, scalloped rim, and repeating geometric motif — bold orange and plum arches above banded horizontal bars, set against a soft blue-green wash — are unmistakably 1930s Art Deco, the work of a decorator's hand rather than a factory press. Mounted on a new antique brass pendant socket with knurled shade fitter, brown cloth-covered cord, and matching brass ceiling canopy, the fixture ships ready to install and the 94-inch cord adjusts to fit any ceiling height. At home above a kitchen table, dining room, entryway, hallway, or bedroom, the vintage opal glass carries the warmth and slight variation that no reproduction can replicate, and when lit it diffuses light the way only opal glass does — evenly, softly, with color glowing through the painted Art Deco pattern.

MEASUREMENTS

The shade measures 9 1/2 inches in diameter. The cord length is 94 inches and is adjustable.

ELECTRICAL

The fixture uses an E26 medium base socket. Maximum wattage is 60 watts. Compatible with LED, CFL, and incandescent bulbs. Bulb not included. Rated for dry locations only. This is a custom-assembled fixture combining vintage and new parts and is not UL Listed.

CONDITION

The glass shade is vintage original, consistent with 1930s Art Deco production. It has been cleaned and shows minor age-related character: light surface wear, possible small marks, and minor manufacturing irregularities in the glass and painted finish typical of period opal glass. The pendant hardware — E26 socket, cloth cord, brass canopy, shade fitter, and mounting hardware — is new with an antique brass finish.

Find Your Part

Search our catalog by part, fitter size, or fixture type — try “2 1/4 shade”, “mogul socket”, or “sash lock”.

Need help choosing or fixing a part? Our Salvage Knowledge Library draws on Vintporium’s work since 2008 to help you identify what you have, pick the right part, or plan your own repair.

Can't Find the Part?

Looking for a matching sconce, a replacement shade, or an odd-sized fitter? Send us a photo and measurements. A large portion of our inventory is uncataloged. Many of the doors, windows, fireplace surrounds, bath fixtures, and architectural pieces in the yard never make it to the website. If you don't see it online, that doesn't mean we don't have it.

The Vintporium Heritage Standard

The Heritage Standard

Restored by hand, one at a time. Old wire out. New wire rated for present use, sound sockets, and grounding where the fixture allows. The body, glass, finish, and the marks it earned stay. Every fixture is tested on the bench before it leaves the shop.

About the Founder

Joe Golda has run Vintporium from his workshop in San José since 2008. He sources the pieces, pulls the old wiring, rewires them, finishes them by hand, and packs them himself. One person, one bench, one standard. Every fixture is tested — each socket, each switch — before it ships. What's original is called original. What's new is called new. We call this commitment to candor and craft our Heritage Standard.
