Antique Richmond Chase Wooded Fruit Crate Face SanJose

$ 79.99

Established in 1919 by Edmond Nutting Richmond, the Richmond-Chase Company emerged as a prominent force in the fruit canning industry within Santa Clara County. Boasting four significant plants in San Jose and extending its operations into central California, the company played a pivotal role during the 1920s and 1930s when Santa Clara County held the global title of fruit processing capital. At that time, the cannery industry, led by companies like Richmond-Chase, stood as the primary employer in San Jose, offering significant employment opportunities, particularly for women, many of whom were immigrants from Southern Europe initially and later from Mexico.

Measurements: The crate end measures 14 inches wide, 7 3/4 inches tall, and 3/4 inches thick.

Condition: The crate end is in good condition. Color inconsistencies, dings, and a cut show its antiquity. The wood has been cleaned, polished, and waxed to bring out the rich wood tones.
