Side-Sash-Lock-Friiction-Banjo-Brass-Nickel-Laquered-Brushed-Bronze-Window-Hardware_Vintporium-09Side Sash Locks, otherwise known as Friction Locks or Banjo Side Sash Locks, are simple locks that, once secured to the window sash, allow you to flip a lever, activating a stop plate, which applies pressure to the window rail, locking the sash in place. To purchase visit www.vintporium.com

STEP I. Determine which side of the sash window the Side Sash Lock will be installed on and at what location. We prefer the upper corner so that the lock is installed with one screw anchored into the top rail and one screw anchored into the window stile.

Step III. Drill small pilot holes. The flat screws are solid brass, so using the correct-sized screwdriver ensures the screws won't be marred. Tighten screws.

STEP IV: Test the sash window by opening and closing it, ensuring the locks are engaged and secure at multiple points along the rail. Congratulations! You have successfully installed your side sash lock. Now, you can enjoy the added security and peace of mind that comes with knowing your windows are properly secured.

Find Your Part

Search our catalog by part, fitter size, or fixture type — try “2 1/4 shade”, “mogul socket”, or “sash lock”.

Need help choosing or fixing a part? Our Salvage Knowledge Library draws on Vintporium’s work since 2008 to help you identify what you have, pick the right part, or plan your own repair.

Can't Find the Part?

Looking for a matching sconce, a replacement shade, or an odd-sized fitter? Send us a photo and measurements. A large portion of our inventory is uncataloged. Many of the doors, windows, fireplace surrounds, bath fixtures, and architectural pieces in the yard never make it to the website. If you don't see it online, that doesn't mean we don't have it.

The Vintporium Heritage Standard

The Heritage Standard

Restored by hand, one at a time. Old wire out. New wire rated for present use, sound sockets, and grounding where the fixture allows. The body, glass, finish, and the marks it earned stay. Every fixture is tested on the bench before it leaves the shop.

About the Founder

Joe Golda has run Vintporium from his workshop in San José since 2008. He sources the pieces, pulls the old wiring, rewires them, finishes them by hand, and packs them himself. One person, one bench, one standard. Every fixture is tested — each socket, each switch — before it ships. What's original is called original. What's new is called new. We call this commitment to candor and craft our Heritage Standard.
